This year’s Read for the Record Day is all about ” I AM –YES I CAN” inspired by internationally selected book Quackers and a Caribbean locally selected stories and poems I am Beautiful and Leatherback Literacy. These books and poems are about identity and self-discovery. On Read for the Record Day, your school can share with students the wonderful ways to overcome struggles of standing out or fitting in and to remind them that it is all about mutual respect. As always, we kindly suggest your school to engage in fun art and writing activities so that students can also experience a sense of self-worth and resiliency just like the cat in Quackers and the young girl in I am Beautiful. We request your school to encourage the older children to read to younger children especially the wonderful poem of the turtle in Leatherback Literacy who changed his name to Brainy, Brainy Jack.
